Recent Episode

In our special debut episode, Daniel jumps into the pressure cooker known in Quebec as the "Course aux stages", the process by which top law firms recruit the best and brightest law students for articling positions.

Competition is fierce and students stress out trying to put their best selves forward, maintain integrity, find out who they are and who they want to be.

Daniel interviews a McGill law student, Elizabeth Novak, a University of Montreal student, Hanane Loumi, and his own articling student, David Chun.

Get a glimpse of their challenges and takeaways as Daniel and guests share key lessons they have learned in their respective mentoring and internship roles. Managing stress and expectations, career anxiety and finding work-life balance are key themes.

Elisabeth Novak, second-year law student at McGill law with a Bachelor of Commerce, Elisabeth is a former competitive hockey player with good diplomacy skills. Her desire is to make it in corporate law and devoting herself to serving her future clients.

Hanane Loumi, third-year law student at University of Montreal. Born and partly raised in Algeria, she has done a lot of volunteer work, even helping Syrian refugees better understand immigration law and labour norms here in Quebec. She hopes to practice professional liability or family law.

David Chun, University of Montreal law graduate, McGill economics graduate and articling student at Goldwater, Dubé, David chose family law to make a positive impact in people’s lives, especially when children are involved. He puts up with Daniel's hazing.
